POST CONGRESS COURSE
ONE DAY HANDS-ON COURSE ON MIA
(With Live Clinical Demo of Surgical & Biomechanical Applications)
By Dr. Mani K. Prakash, MDS
Date: Monday, December 2,2024 | Time: 9.00 am - 5.00 pm
Venue: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Research and Education Centre, IDA - Bombay Branch, Above ‘VIP’ Showroom, Prabhadevi, Worli, Mumbai
Today, the Anchorage control paradigm has changed significantly. Micro Implant Screws, that are inserted in the Cortical bone to achieve immovable absolute anchorage, freeing molars of this burden, have become routine clinical methods to achieve better treatment outcomes! The advantages of this method being the fact that the screws do not need osseo/osteo-integration like the case with dental implants - so no waiting time before loading them, easier to insert and remove without any local infiltration.
This hands-on course is to familiarize Orthodontists with simple & easy insertion method which they can do themselves. These micro implants are slim yet strong and tapered for intra-radicular placement between the roots - to reduce the extent of surgery needed.
Many anchorage conservation methods were used over the years to achieve best of treatment goals. Today the paradigm has changed significantly. Micro Implant Screws, that are inserted in the Cortical bone to achieve immovable absolute anchorage, freeing molars of this burden, have made their mark.
Hence the advantages using this modality are:
- Minimal Surgery with just topical spray anesthesia during insertion, and even the spray not needed during removal of them.
- No breakages while insertion or removal.
- Cost effective.
- Eliminates patient compliance.
- Efficient Anchor control, with no reactions on molars in difficult movements like Retractions, Intrusions and Extrusions of all teeth.
- Reduces Extractions, need of Surgical options in Treatment Planning.
- They are unobtrusive, comfortable and totally hygienic.
- Resists any forces from 300 to 500 gm covering the total range orthodontic force needs.
- Immediate loading, shortened Treatment time.
IMPORTANT HIGHLIGHTS OF THE COURSE
- Learn from a Veteran in MIA who has conducted more 100+ such courses all over the world
- Opportunity watch the Master of screw insertion (with 1800+ screws inserted by him) in live action using the screws, both Surgically & Biomechanically, in the well-equipped IDA - ‘APJ Abdul Kalam Edu Centre’ in Mumbai.
- User-friendly methods will be demonstrated and use of easy Biomechanics with no side effects will be explained so as to make the paradigm friendly to even beginners.
- Extra ordinary remote locations of Screws like IZC will be avoided and the resultant disastrous complications, due to much intrusive surgery and difficult remote biomechanics will be dealt in detail, and how to avoid the same!
- Course will show case hundreds of Case Reports illustrating different clinical situations making it one of the best learning session!
- Participants will be encouraged to bring their own patient, and to insert under expert supervision
- The course is so designed to enrich the participants with easy step-by-step screw Insertion knowhow and equipped with needful - driver and micro screws - to put in practice the very next day!
- The course is limited to 30 participants only
